Allowing changes is allowing yourself to let go of what is no longer necessary for the next step, including who you were.
Very often the hardest part is to let go of who we were, not because we must get rid of flaws or negative patterns, but because the next step requires a different version of ourselves, and that might feel like losing ourselves-from an ego-based standpoint only.
This is not losing ourselves, it is moving forward with only what we need.
You can compare this to going on vacation and only bringing what you need for where you are going. You are not forgetting what you have left behind and it is always there if you need to go somewhere else.
This reminds me when I left Canada to work on a cruise ship abroad and knowing where we were assigned only few days before while already in London, we had in our suitcase things for the four seasons just in case, and every time we were moving around from YMCA to hosts or even on our way to the ship once assigned, the suitcase was so heavy to carry; if we would have had only what was needed knowing where we would be assigned before leaving home, we would have carried way less weight. Many of us felt like we were carrying our life in our suitcases.
Take the time to see if it is what you do when moving forward. Let go of what is no longer necessary for the next step, including who you were.
Enjoy the process!
Nathalie 🙂
